Independence Day - Stars and stripes color Verrado on Independence Day. A cherished tradition, Verrado revels in this annual community event, which includes the resident golf tournament, the apple pie baking contest (just try to beat our reigning champ, Debbie Ermoian!), the children's patriotic bicycle parade down Main Street, the all-over-your-face pie eating contest, and, of course, the fabulous fireworks display.
Founder's Day - Verrado honors its unique heritage at the annual Founder’s Day celebration. The weekend-long festivities kick off with Friday night cocktails with neighbors and friends at the Verrado Grille. Start your Saturday with the Family Rock ‘N Walk, an interactive walk/run in Verrado with music, activities and plenty of surprises along the way. Spend Saturday night enjoying the resident variety show, and rock out to the likes of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on Main Street. The weekend wraps up at the community-wide brunch, where the all-community photo will be taken and the “Neighborhood Spirit Award” will be awarded. Don’t forget to stop by and see the new additions to the Founder’s Day Legacy Bricks in Founders Park.
Hometown Holidays - Celebrate the spirit of the holiday season at this special community gathering. Everyone enjoys this winter tradition. Sit on Santa’s lap, toss real snowballs at Verrado neighbors and friends, and watch in wonder as the Verrado Christmas tree on Main Street is lit for the first time of the season.
Verrado is located in the magnificent Sonoran Desert - a land lush with a diverse array of plants and animals. Rising behind Verrado are the peaceful peaks of the White Tank Mountains. With each shift in
season and climate, the desert reveals yet another intriguing and inspiring facet of its personality.
Come experience this tranquil beauty for yourself. It's truly therapeutic.
Banner Health, one of the largest non-profit hospital providers in the country, purchased 62 acres of land in 2007, with plans to build a regional hospital campus in Verrado. The hospital campus site is located north of I-10 and west of Verrado Way.
The campus will begin operations as a smaller, community hospital that will transition into a highly specialized, tertiary institution as the population in the West Valley expands. The hospital campus will be built in phases and will provide a comprehensive range of services when completed.
Banner also conducts periodic wellness programs at Verrado including healthy living seminars, immunization programs and CPR training for residents. Get valuable guidance about food and nutrition, exercise and other tips for living a healthier, more active life. These services are available at the Verrado Village Sport & Health Club.
Verrado’s First Hometown Doctor
Verrado’s first hometown doctor, Dr. Matthew Kennedy of Main Street Dental, opened on Main Street and quickly settled into the community. With a new, state-of-the-art office including digital x-rays, massaging dental chairs and even a video game room for the kids, this family-owned practice plans to meet the needs of the community for a long time to come. Located on the northwest corner of Main Street and Verrado Way in the Davis Building, Dr. Kennedy and his staff are providing care to area residents young and old.
