Verrado is committed to education. Whether it's early childhood development, exceptional learning for grades K-12, or our alliance with ASU West, we'll help you get to the head of the class.
The Goddard School
The Goddard School, one of the fastest growing early childhood development providers in the U.S, plans to provide high-quality childcare services to Verrado as early as the fall of 2009. The new school, planned as an 8,000 square foot facility, will be designed to accommodate approximately 130 children aged six weeks to six years old and will offer flexible schedules for children. The facility is conveniently located across from Verrado Elementary School. Their program focuses on building a strong and balanced foundation of emotional, social, cognitive and physical skills of each child.
Exemplary Facilities
The educational facilities at Verrado are designed to reflect the character of traditional schools, while accommodating the innovative use of technology and teaching that extends far beyond the classroom. From LEED certified green buildings to audio enhancement, document cameras and laptop carts replacing computer labs, Verrado’s schools are wired.
Verrado currently lies within three school districts including: Litchfield Elementary School District, Agua Fria High School District, and Saddle Mountain Unified School District.
Early On
As part of the Litchfield Elementary School District, Verrado Elementary School serves pre-school and grades K-5 and Verrado Middle School serves grades 6-8. The schools sit on thirty acres of land in the heart of the community, within walking distance of many neighborhoods.
The Litchfield District has a tradition of excellence and strives to be an achievement leader in the West Valley. The latest district AIMS scores (Arizona's Instrument to Measure the Standards), the state’s standards-based assessment, reveal that students continue to perform well above state and national averages in math, reading and writing.
At Verrado Elementary School, students are challenged to think critically, excel and obtain a lifelong love of learning. The faculty is committed to providing professional, positive and student-centered environments throughout the school campus. “We promise to strive for nothing less than excellence and to always keep our students' best interests at heart,” said Principal Molly Evans. “Every member of this faculty and the community comes together to create a positive and supportive learning environment for our students.”
Verrado Elementary School offers a wide range of programs that enhance educational opportunities including Project Inquiry, an application-based gifted program, Read Naturally, a reading fluency program, The Math Achievement Club, a math acceleration program, and Atomic Learning, a new technology learning initiative. The school is also home to Character Counts(sm), the most widely implemented approach to character education that was developed by the Josephson Institute of Ethics. Faculty and students alike are dedicated to upholding the six pillars of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
The Math Achievement Club
In 2006, Verrado created a partnership between the Rodel Charitable Foundation of Arizona and the school district superintendents and principals of five West Valley schools that enabled the introduction of the coveted Math Achievement Club to the community.
The Math Achievement Club by Rodel (MAC-Ro) has a proven track record of improving the math achievement of elementary school students. The program focuses on a combination of increased learning time in math, valuable parent involvement, strategies for teaching the Arizona Academic Standards, systematic review and monthly “surprises” as motivation for students to do well.
After just the first year in the program, second-graders at Verrado Elementary School saw an incredible 25 percentile point gain in their Terra Nova math achievement scores to reach the 77th percentile. According to Molly Evans, Principal at Verrado Elementary School, MAC-Ro has been a true asset to students learning because it “puts math in the spotlight” but moreover, it has created greater family communication about each child’s education.
The Rodel Charitable Foundation of Arizona’s vision is for Arizona to have one of the best pre-kindergarten through 12 educational systems in the country by 2020. View the press release here.
Verrado Middle School is proud to have achieved an “Excelling” school rating from the Arizona Department of Education since 2007. The teachers and administration are dedicated to providing rich educational opportunities that will empower students to be productive in the world around them. In addition to honors classes available for each grade level, Verrado Middle School offers a variety of after school programs and clubs, including National Junior Honor Society, Science Olympiad, Math Counts, Book Club to enhance reading, Student Council, drama, art, band, and choir.
Community and parent involvement is integral in the school’s success. “We have the unique opportunity to be embedded within a very astute community and the partnerships and parent involvement that supports us is vital to our teachers and the positive energy filters down to the kids,” said Principal Kim Diaz.
Verrado High School is an innovative school focused on promoting rigor through a relevant curriculum and positive relationships. Administrators created a small-school environment by splitting up the students into four houses of 400 kids and assigning the students in each house the same teachers in math, science, and English. The schools-within-a-school structure that Verrado High School has adopted is one way to create an intimate learning environment that allows for close relationships among students and teachers that lead to success. Verrado supports the Agua Fria High School District's mission of "All Students College Ready". Verrado High School opened its doors on August 7, 2006 to the freshmen class of 2010.
