Teen-TREKSIsn’t it weird how “Yay! School’s out for summer!” quickly turns into “Oh no! School’s out for summer … now what am I going to do?!” If you’re a Verrado teen between 13-16 years old, your friends at the Verrado Assembly have you covered.

Teen T.R.E.K.S. — which cleverly stands for travel, recreation, education, knowledge, and service — is a new program designed just for you. It’s a chance to spend quality time with your friends during once-weekly outings to places around the West Valley and the greater Phoenix area and enjoy a combination of fun, learning, and giving back.
Each outing is $20 and the Verrado Assembly has conveniently arranged transportation that will depart from The Center on Main. Times listed indicate when the shuttles will leave and the approximately time the ‘rents can expect you back at Verrado.

Read on to learn more about the eight excursions the Verrado Assembly team has planned for you in June and July and remember to register A.S.A.P.!

Skyzone Trampoline Park
Wednesday, June 4 @ 10 a.m. (1:30 p.m.)
Back in the 1930s a guy named George Nissen invented the trampoline using springs and canvas cloth. Fast forward 80 years and his good idea has turned into a great idea at Skyzone where there are wall-to-wall trampolines. What could be more fun than perfecting a triple flip or playing a game of dodge ball while bouncing six feet in the air? Yeah, we can’t think of anything else either.

Laser Tag at Uptown Alley
Wednesday, June 11 @ 10 a.m. (1 p.m.)
Speaking of inventions, the laser was developed in the 1960s, but it took decades before practical uses for the intense light beam was integrated into our daily lives. Now lasers are used for tons of practical things like removing tattoos and playing laser tag. At Uptown Alley, laser tag is even more intense thanks to its two-story maze.

After the July 4th holiday, we’ll return to US Airways Center to watch the Phoenix Mercury — now in its 17th season in the Valley of the Sun — heat up the basketball court.

Arizona Humane Society at South Mountain Campus
Wednesday, July 16 @ 10 a.m. (2 p.m.)

Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field

Summer wouldn’t be complete without a baseball game. Take in the sights and sounds of Chase Field as our D-Backs take on the Tigers during a matinee game. Want to know whether the retractable roof will be opened or closed that day. Interestingly, the 200-horsepowered roof has its own schedule posted online, too. Who knew?

Bowling at Uptown Alley
Wednesday, July 30 @ 10 a.m. (1:30 p.m.)
