Verrado’s Founder’s Day weekend long celebration is chock-full of community traditions, which also includes unique elements and added surprises every year.
The Cocktail Party on Friday evening provided an opportunity for the Verrado Assembly and Verrado Golf Club™ to host a fabulous evening for residents and community partners to mix, mingle and dance the night away. The spectacular backdrop of the golf course and White Tank Mountains perfectly paired with the street festival inspired food and activities provided by the Verrado Grille made for a memorable occasion. Amongst the crowd pleasing hors’ d’oeuvres was a gracious spread by Grazie, wine and craft beer tastings, photo booth fun, star gazing with the Astronomy Club of Verrado and a 50/50 chipping challenge raising $200.00 for Feed My Starving Children.
After a toast to the past, present and future of Verrado a video tribute, A Look Back at Past Founder’s Day Celebrations played from the big screen. Moving and grooving to the tunes of Shining Star band and enjoying the company of neighbors and friends was the perfect way to kick off Verrado’s 10th Founder’s Day.
Bright and early the following morning, over 100 residents rose to the challenge of a 10k, 5k and 1 mile run during the 2nd Annual Heritage Run and Pancake Breakfast. The participants ran through neighborhoods and paths and trails system of the Heritage District before finishing at the Verrado Fire Station. The United Buckeye Fire Fighter Charities served griddle pancakes along with volunteers from Feed My Starving Children. Generous donations and proceeds from race registrations raised $720.00 for each charity.
Our Saturday Night Block Party rocked Main Street and the Village Green as talented performers took the stage during the Resident Variety Show hosted by Anderson Institute of Music and Performing Arts. Leading up to the concert, the crowd engaged in family-friendly activities sponsored by community partners including EPCOR, Main Street Lofts, Summit Community Church and Verrado Realty. Roughly 3000 residents and their guests sang along with Sugar Ray.
Traditions and competitions were the name of the game at Sunday’s Community Picnic at Founders Park. Residents, including our canine friends, earned spirit award points by participating in DJ Games and activities hosted by Verrado Clubs and community partners: DLC Resources, EPCOR Water, The Goddard School®, and Vitras Swim Club. Congratulations to Hamilton’s Run, winning the honor for the second year in a row of the “2015 Neighborhood Spirit Award”.
Hamilton’s Run neighbors will enjoy a block party hosted by the Verrado Assembly, including a $250 Bashas’ gift card, a bounce house reservation and a banner to be hung throughout the year proclaiming “The Most Spirited Neighborhood” in their park. In all, over 50 volunteers collectively donated 75+ hours of time and talent to deliver a memorable event for the community.
All in all, it was another amazing Founder’s Day event – we can’t wait to celebrate with the Verrado Community again next year! Keep up with the fun on Facebook and stop by the Verrado Coffee Company today.
