Dental on Main 3 (00000003)The opening of Main Street Dental in the Davis Building on the corner of Verrado Way and Main Street in 2009 was the culmination of a dream Dr. Matthew Kennedy harbored since childhood. Kennedy knew from an early age that he wanted to become a dentist, after being inspired by his own childhood dentist.  Working his way through college, Kennedy graduated from Arizona State University in 1999 with a B.S. in Biology, becoming the first member of his family to graduate from college. Kennedy went on to marry Sara, his former Apollo High School classmate, and gain entrance to the University of California San Francisco Dental School, where he attained his degree in 2003.

Fast forward to today, and The Kennedys are devoted Verrado residents and stakeholders, with four children enrolled in Verrado elementary and middle schools.

“I intentionally located my practice on Main Street because it allows me to walk to work,” Kennedy said. “I can literally walk 100 yards after work to watch my kids train for swim meets. I can also be on the soccer field in minutes, where I coach a team.”

Proximity to home and his children’s practices were just two of the draws to opening his dental practice on Main Street. “My philosophy is simply to treat others the way I want to be treated,” Kennedy said. “Our patients are like family to us. My goal is to maintain the continuity and on-going comfort level of a family-owned practice in a hometown environment.”

To keep Main Street Dental’s experience even more inviting, patients receive treatment in chairs with built-in massagers, and watch movies on overhead LCD screens. Video game buffs enjoy an arcade with a library of almost 1,000 video games, including the original Nintendo game system.

Main Street Dental’s staff of nine employees are dedicated to making every member of the family feel at home. In addition to pediatric and adult dentistry services, Dr. Kennedy retains in-house specialists including a periodontist, an oral surgeon, endodontist and orthodontist to fulfill every potential dental need. These specialists can utilize a 3-D X-ray machine called the Planmeca ProMax, which allows practitioners to evaluate the exact anatomy of the interior of a tooth or bone to provide the best possible outcome of root canals, implant placement and extractions.

“I try to be as approachable as possible, so patients can ask questions and be directly involved in their dental health,” Kennedy said. “Sara and I are dedicated to raising our family here in Verrado. Now our dream is to grow and thrive together as a community in the years ahead.”
