Verrado High School’s video submitted for Katy Perry’s national contest is still roaring as one of the top 5 finalists. The contest challenged high schools across America to create a video for her song Roar showcasing their school spirit, and the winning school will get a free Katy Perry concert right on their campus. In the video created and directed by student Clayton Mueller, Verrado High School’s One Verrado spirit is exemplified by the inspiring story of a senior student, Megan Squire, overcoming the challenges of down syndrome and reaching her dream of being a cheerleader.
When you create a town with a foundation in community and connectedness, it is only natural that it creates schools with those same values. The high school’s open hallways and friendly students and staff reflect Verrado’s motto, One Verrado. Even on their fall break, Verrado High students showed their spirit and eye of the tiger hearts by coming to school at 4:00 a.m. for the live taping of Good Morning America at the school.
Watch the coverage here, and join in our pride! The winner will be announced on October 10th. Way to go Verrado, we love to hear you ROAR!
