The founders of our great nation sure knew what they were doing by signing the Declaration of Independence in the summertime. Can you imagine celebrating the Fourth of July any other time of year? Summer and freedom just go hand-in-hand. And at Verrado, it’s our annual tradition to celebrate the Spirit of Independence with neighbors and friends right in our own home town. The Verrado Assembly has a preview of what you have to look forward to in just a few short weeks!
July 3 | Bike Decorating Party | The Center on Main | 5 to 7 p.m.
Getting ready for Saturday’s bike parade is a party in itself. The Goddard School will provide decorations and refreshments, families bring bikes and wagons. Admission of $5 per child is collected at the door, but please RSVP in advance.
July 4 | Children’s Bike Parade | Main Street | 9 a.m.
Bike bells ring like freedom bells and spectators wave patriotic flags during this magical community tradition. After the parade, Verrado Realty will serve up some tasty treats, or visit Tempo Urban Bistro between 8 and 11 a.m. for a $5 pancake breakfast with friends and neighbors. Children participating in the parade will need to complete a waiver and bring it with them when they line up for the parade between 8 and 8:45 a.m. Please no motorized or electric vehicles at the parade.
July 4 | July Fourth Fête & Fireworks | Verrado Golf Club | 5:30 p.m.
Round up your family, friends, and blankets for an evening of good old-fashioned fun at the Verrado Golf Club. Enjoy live music, a “water park” play zone, and all-American fare concessions. A July 4th celebration wouldn’t be complete without an apple pie baking contest and pie eating contest. The evening concludes with a tribute to our freedom during a spectacular fireworks display over the clubhouse grounds at 9 p.m. For those seeking a “no sweat” alternative to the heat — but still want to be part of the excitement — Verrado Grille is offering a limited number of indoor pre-paid reservations.
