Verrado is excited to host the starting line for the Arizona Marathon Feb. 19. The 26.2-mile, Boston-qualifying race starts promptly at 7 a.m. at The Victory Club. To help you navigate through our community that morning, we want to make sure you’re aware of the associated traffic control changes.
Tiger Mountain and Granite Bluff will be closed between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. to allow the 500 runners to get safely down the hill. Runners will proceed through Main Street and are expected to clear this portion of the course route by 7:45 a.m. Police officers and traffic control personnel will direct traffic in this area before and after the start of the race. Runners have the right-of-way and traffic will be held for a short time if race participants are impacted by vehicles attempting to cross the race course.
5 – 8:30 a.m.: Main Street between Market Place and Park Street, Park Street and Thayer Street are closed to traffic in both directions. Residents north of Main Street, Park Street and Thayer Street may head south on feeder streets when runners are not on the course; please proceed with caution. Acacia Way between Thayer Street and Indian School Road is closed. Use Lost Creek and Verrado Way as alternates.
3 – 9 a.m.: Indian School Road between Sunrise Lane and Cotton Lane, including a portion of the Loop 303 Indian School exits, will be closed to traffic in both directions.
Please note, roads will reopen when the last runner clears. The times listed above are the latest the roads will remain closed.
