Six races were won by the Verrado girls swim team’s Lady Vipers at the Division II meet at Skyline Aquatic Center on November 3rd. Verrado’s Lady Vipers are third at state for the second straight year.

Up until the end, Verrado was in the lead after winning four individual state championships and two relays. Without divers on the team, both Tucson Salpointe Catholic and Phoenix Arcadia pulled ahead of them in the end.

The meet was won by Salpointe Catholic with 246 points; Arcadia scored second with 221; Verrado came in third with 218. At last year’s meet, Verrado came in just one point behind Salpointe Catholic.

Verrado’s Amy Bilquist and Picabo Bender were quadruple state champions for Verrado, winning both of their individual events and helping lead the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays to victory.
