Verrado brings its residents much more than high-quality homes. From early education to college preparation, Verrado has always upheld high standards in education. These high-standards have recently been recognized by the A+ School of Excellence ™ program and the Verrado Elementary School and Verrado High School have both made the list of the 2012-2013 Winners.

Created by the Arizona Educational Foundation in 1983, the A+ School of Excellence ™ program is a comprehensive school assessment program that celebrates outstanding schools and brings to light positive stories and successes happening in public schools every day. 

The program has three main purposes:
– To identify and recognize publically outstanding public schools in Arizona.
– To create and make available a comprehensive framework of key criteria for school effectiveness that can serve as a basis for participatory self assessment and planning.
– To facilitate communication and sharing of best practices within and among schools based on a common criteria related to success.

To be considered for the program, schools submit a comprehensive application that includes demographic information, a description of current programs and practices, documentation of parent and community involvement, a profile of the schools leadership and commitment to excellence, equity, and service. The schools in the program must also show sustained high achievement or show significant improvement through various assessments.

Just the process of completing the application can help schools create greater parent and community involvement along with increase student and parent pride and validate school programs and accomplishments.
