If Victory’s first CRUSH was spectacular, our second CRUSH was magical. Members and friends shared a beautiful, crisp evening sampling good wine, tasting great food and listening to some enjoyable music.
After arriving by trolley, guests nabbed their commemorative Victory etched tasting glass and made the rounds. The Quad hosted the band and also dessert. The Lawn offered a beautiful spot to “gather” with friends for a photo op, and of course delicious nibbles and wine. The Desert Terrace had dining tables under bistro lights with more food and wine pairing stations surrounding the perimeter.
The competitive spirit is alive and well in Victory. This year’s wine-themed costumes and crush team names “raised the glass,” so to speak. Congrats to “Grape Expectations” (resident: Loretta D’Addone and her guest Patty) for winning best team name; and also to “Vine Nerds” (residents: Dave Jahne & Ray Hayward) for winning best costume.
Several crush teams arrived ready to “stomp” the competition. We can thank Jeanette and her team for the CRUSH-ready fitness training that helped prepare 15 teams of two to work in partnership to step, stomp, march and hop in their barrel of grapes for two minutes each, with the goal of filling their bucket to the brim with juice first. After three crush flights—15 teams with 30 crushers—and lots of laughs and of course some “crush” talk, the victors were named:
- Flight 1: The Cleveland Indians, resident Marianne Zymlinski and her guest Denise
- Flight 2: You Had Me At Merlot, resident Wendy McGee and her guest Willma
- Flight 3: Wendy’s Winers, resident Suzanne Peters Trenter and her guest Wendy
Our team couldn’t put on such a spectacular evening without the generous support of our residents. Beth McGee helped with the décor and floral design. Diane Alford, Jo Hayward, Lynne Ulsh, Nancy Adams, Bobbi Adler, Bobbi Fisher, Mary Scieszinski, Carol Peterson, Darla Wooldridge, Andrea Sellers, Nancy Goettsch, Nancy Prentiss and Martha Kueffer each contributed their time and talent to projects that supported this event. Bill Alford and Doug Rager helped to build the flower boxes. And Doug hosted our Wine 101 to share his wine expertise with Victory neighbors.View CRUSH Photos
