“True belonging is born of relationships not only to one another but to a place of shared responsibilities and benefits. We love not so much what we have acquired as what we have made and whom we have made it with.” —Robert Finch, former Secretary of Health, Education & Welfare.
A community is so much more than sticks and bricks, streets and sidewalks, homes and yards. Much more than a shared zip code, neighborhood or street. A community is a collection of people. A gathering of individuals who while different in many ways come together to form something uniquely their own. In a true community we feel a sense of belonging; we welcome others and offer mutual support. We share knowledge, lend a hand, and enrich each other. Best of all, we gather together and create lasting memories.
As the list of new residents of Victory at Verrado grows we are lucky enough to witness this first hand every week. People with vastly different experiences, from vastly different places are coming together to enjoy shared experiences. We are delighted to see the evolution from new residents to neighbors, and neighbors to friends.
Each Friday afternoon, for example, a group of residents get together at the Victory Vineyard. And while the vines of Zinfandel and Pinot Gris grapes are beautiful, it’s the crushed stone gathering area with a farm table and Edison lights strung above that draws them there. The group brings wine, food and music. They sing, dance and have fun. They watch the sun set over the valley and laugh, reveling in the company of new friends and life at Victory.
Some evenings you’ll find a group of residents in Victory Park relaxing together and enjoying the inviting outdoor space. On Mardi Gras they upped the ante yet again, bringing out chairs, folding tables, a potluck of food, and of course, coolers. Food and drink was enjoyed, and many laughs were had by all. Other nights you’ll find The Big Patio full of life for Happy Hour or club meetings. The Victory Club is full of energy too, with people enjoying delicious meals at The Vic Bar + Kitchen, friends playing billiards in the sports den, or learning something new at Arts With a View.
Victory residents and their future neighbors are coming together outside of Verrado, as well. Last Wednesday, for instance, close to 60 people joined together for a Victory Lap around the bases after a game at the Dodgers and Whitesox Spring Training facility in Camelback Ranch. The base runners were made up of Victory residents, friends, family and other 55+ attendees who wanted a chance to run (or walk) around the diamond. (By the way: Victory is a Dodgers & White Sox Spring Training sponsor, which means you can join us for the Victory Lap every Wednesday. Just email AskVictory@Verrado.com for info).
Finally, being a part of the established, vibrant community of Verrado – a place that embodies the true meaning of the word – provides myriad opportunities to engage with fellow community members. There’s the Farmers’ Market Series, Music on Main, our Spring Open House Series and so much more. Just keep an eye on the What’s Happening page at Verrado.com for real-time updates on everything going on.
As always, email AskVictory@Verrado.com with any questions or for more information about Victory. Be sure to check out the Grand Opening Season calendar for plenty of opportunities to gather with current residents. Tours of The Victory Club are available every day at 10:00am, 12:00pm and 2:30pm, call 623-399-9001 to schedule yours today.
